Can you really have a Las Vegas itinerary without gambling? The slots, the high rollers, the smell of money… it is quintessentially Las Vegas, right? Gambling is the first thing I think of when I think of Vegas – or maybe an Elvis impersonator conducting a wedding. 

However, there is so much to do here that your Las Vegas itinerary is going to be full to the brim with choices. We’re going to run through a load of options that are close by and available on the strip and we’re also going to look at day trips out of the city. I’m going to post separately on some of the hotels and the entertainment options they have. You can find the Las Vegas Hotels post here.

So let’s start your Las Vegas itinerary with activities on The Strip.

S.A.W Escape Room

This looks pretty terrifying if I’m honest. If you’re looking for a little thrill seeking fun, this is a good way to kill (pun intended) an hour. Work your way through the escape room challenges and avoid the wrath of Jigsaw.

Book online in advance and whilst you’re at it, get your heavily discounted tickets for the Hunger Games Exhibition. Tickets are $54 (US) and you can buy the Hunger Games Tickets for $13 (US).

The Hunger Games Exhibition

Learn about how one of the most successful movie franchises was made and see props including costumes from the movies. Tickets are $53 (US).

Part of the exhibition is that you can take some archery lessons – just like Katniss! Book here.

M&M’s World Las Vegas

Ok there’s not much to explain here. Except maybe the pure joy of entering a huge store dedicated to every flavor of M&Ms and some seriously sweet merch. 

You won’t need to spend too long here but it’s worth dropping in to check it out and grab a bag of your favorites. 

Cosmopolitan’s Ice Rink

Ice skating in the middle of the desert seems somewhat of an oxymoron. And whoever thought of it must have had to do some serious convincing to make it happen. As it happens, it’s only available during December and January. And as anything is possible in Vegas, it even ‘snows’ every thirty minutes. 

USA’s answer to the Eiffel Tower – Essential Las Vegas Itinerary

Surprisingly, as we know the US loves to go big, the Eiffel Tower in Vegas is only roughly half the size of its original counterpart in Paris, France. You can make your way up to the top of the tower and get 360 degree views of Vegas. If that’s not enough for you, just as in the Eiffel Tower in Paris, you can also dine at the restaurant, built into the first floor. It specialises in… you guessed it, French cuisine. Bon appetit!

The Mirage Volcano

Ummm yes… clearly not as famous as the Bellagio fountains, but this is a man-made volcano. Not sure how this one has gone so under the radar.  Operating daily the volcano “erupts” on the hour from 7pm until 11pm each night. Why? Because it can and because its Vegas.

Hours of Operation

Monday – Sunday

07:00 PM – 11:00 PM

The Volcano fires on the hour at 7pm, 8pm, 9pm, 10pm and 11pm.

MARVEL AVENGERS S.T.A.T.I.O.N.

So an actual exhibit to go and view is the Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. It holds props and costumes from the movies and has an interactive component where you create case files on each of the superheroes. 

If you can’t make it to Vegas in person, they do have an online store for merch on the website. 

Transfix – Immersive Light Show

This one might only be available until Fall 2023, but it is an immersive light experience (duh) of over 50 artworks.

We’d done an immersive Frida Kahlo exhibition in Sydney and were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. It’s definitely a good way to spend an hour if the bright lights of outside aren’t enough for you. 

Tickets will set you back $40 each. Check out the website to see if they’re still up and running.

The Neon Museum – Essential Las Vegas Itinerary

Home to more than 200 restored signs, you can walk around the history of Vegas in light up signs. Sounds weird but is actually looks very cool. You can go in the daytime at a reduced rate but ultimately, wouldn’t you want to see everything lit up at night?  This could be a super romantic date night before heading back to the hotel (or the Chapel).

Booking is highly recommended.

The Erotic Heritage Museum

OK so we’re not really big museum people even though I think we’d like to be. However, we do tend to go to some of the funnier / riskier museums. We hit up the Penis museum in Iceland and the Sex Museum in New York, so it makes sense we’d visit the Erotic Heritage Museum in Vegas. 

Honestly this is a legit museum that looks at sex across the ages through art and history.

You can look at what events they have on to see if any tickle your fancy. At the time of writing, you could see Pin Up Burlesque, Love and Sex in the Age of Robots, and they even have a Book Club. 

As museums go, this one seems the most fun you can have whilst learning.
