If you get tired of gambling or need to take a break from the table, you can always take one of these day trips from Las Vegas. There are a variety of tours, full day and half day, that you can choose from and some are very reasonably priced.

What you’ll want to look out for is the number of people that will be on your tour. Some of the ones listed below have more than 70 people on your tour alone, whilst others are a small group size of less than 10.

It really depends on the type of tour your prefer as to what you should choose but bear in mind, the less people on the tour, the more expensive it will be (generally).

Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend 

I think horseshoe bend might be one of the most famous Windows wallpapers – everyone seems to recognise it. If you don’t, please see the photo below. 

This tour takes you into Arizona where you will have the chance to marvel at some of the most incredible landscape earth has to offer. You’ll have a local guide who will inform you of the history and geology of the landscape. 

This tour allows for a good amount of time at each spot. At Antelope Canyon you get 2 hours. Horseshoe bend has a 1.5mile round trip easy walk to the view point.

This is a fair distance to travel in one day which means unfortunately, the majority will be spent in the coach. The drive is 4.5hrs one way. Yikes. Let’s hope you like the 55 people you’ll be with on the tour bus.

Area 51

For those of you who are fans of the film “Paul”, this is definitely the tour for you. This incredibly small tour (only 6 people!) will take you along the Extraterrestrial Highway with the hope that you might spot some U.F.Os. 

Even if you don’t see any aliens, you’ll get transported to a variety of famous U.F.O hunter haunts. 

You’ll get a long-distance peek at Area 51, you might even spot some of the government officials looking down from the hills. 

You’ll be taken to the Black Mailbox which is a well known spot for U.F.O sightings. 

There will be a chance to see the top-secret “Janet Airlines” which flies highly classified documents/people/aliens? To different special access facilities run by the US government. 

You’ll have lunch at an Alien themed cafe and there will be a bunch of merch you can buy there too to make sure you’re all stocked up in case you bump into a real alien. 

Death Valley

The scenery in Death Valley is dramatic. When we drove through here with my family, we stopped on the side of the road and it was so hot, my mum had brought an egg with her just to show she could cook it on a rock. I can’t remember if it actually worked, I think I was too busy trying to stop sweating.

However, with this tour, you’ll have a wonderful air conditioned van that will drive you around and oh my god it’s only got a max of 12 people on the tour – amazing. 

You’ll visit stops including: Furnace Creek Visitor Center, Badwater Basin, Zabriskie Point and also Rhyolite Ghost Town.

Grand Canyon Tour including: Grand Canyon SkyWalk & Hoover Dam

The GRAND CANYON. This is a bucket list experience for people around the world and something I did when I went to Vegas with my family. 

It was absolutely incredible and we got to do the SkyWalk which was terrifying. I just kind of ran around it as fast as I could. 

This particular tour seems a little confusing as there are different add ons including a helicopter ride and a boat tour but at the time of writing, there was no option to add on a helicopter tour. The admission cost for the SkyWalk is also not included in the price, so bear that in mind. 

You get an hour at most of the stops and there is also a 20 minute stop at the hoover dam so you can take pictures. If you’re wanting a guided tour of the hoover dam, see below for their half-day tour. 

This particular Grand Canyon tour is wheelchair accessible (at the time of writing) but has up to 77 people in the group. This is a big, big group of people all trying to get photos and selfies all at the same time. So keep this in mind when you think about what kind of experience you’re looking for from your day trips from Las Vegas.

Hoover Dam Tour

Unlike other tours which include a pit stop at the Hoover Dam, this tour is specifically for those wanting to spend a good amount of time here. 

You’ll actually be able to go inside the dam itself and see some of the massive generators that keep it running.

You’ll of course get your obligatory Hoover Dam viewpoint so you can see it in all its glory and take some great photos too. 

Lunch is provided after your guided tour of the dam. 

This is another rather large group of up to 50 people. I’m not sure whether the guided tour would perhaps split the group into smaller groups, but 50 seems to be awfully large. 

This is one of the shorter tours we’ve found, where you’ll be back in Vegas in the afternoon. This gives you time to get back to the strip and have some more fun after a morning of history and culture. This is definitely one of the least demanding of the day trips from Las Vegas. 

Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon

Travel through Arizona to Utah for the day with this incredible tour of both Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon. You’ll see out of this world scenery including the staggering lumpy pillars in Bryce Canyon that tower over the valleys. 

This tour is very much a scenic tour and there’s not a lot of time at each location. Don’t expect to be able to wander off at stops, there won’t be much time until you’re back in the bus driving to the next viewpoint. The longest stop you will have will be Bryce Canyon for 1 hours 30 minutes.

It seems to be a convenient way to see a lot in a short amount of time although it might not be the type of tour everyone would enjoy.

With up to 50 people in your tour group, this would be a busy and less personalised experience.
